winter wedding at the hive venue in pocatello Idaho

This winter wedding at the Hive Venue in Pocatello was my first wedding of the year. And it was an amazing one to start with!!! First of all, Sophie and Obadiah are some of the sweetest people I have ever met. Their joy and love just radiated throughout their wedding day. They were so happy to be getting married and did an amazing job of being in the moment and fully enjoying their day. Their families were also so kind and made the wedding day so fun! Second of all, I love the Hive Venue and it looked so beautiful with the winter snow outside and the beautiful indoor light. We also got to use the Hey Honey Studio for portraits, which was so dreamy!

It was so hard choosing which photos to include in this blog post. There are so many that absolutely love from this wedding, but this is my attempt to narrow it down.

Pre Wedding Ceremony and First Looks at the Hive Venue

Before the ceremony, I captured all the details of the day — the venue, the empty ceremony space, the dress, rings, flowers, shoes, and other meaningful items. I also got to capture the bride in the bride’s room with her bridesmaids as well as the groom in the groom’s room with his groom’s men. Both rooms are styled so beautifully and are perfect for photos!

Next, we went up to the Hey Honey Studio for a first look and bride and groom portraits before the ceremony. But surprise! One of the groomsmen decided to dress up as a bride and prank the groom. Obi turned around thinking he would see his beautiful bride, but instead was greeted with a groomsman in a white dress and veil. It was pretty hilarious and got rid of some of Obi’s nerves.

Then it was time for the real thing. And it was a super special moment for the Obi and Sophie. We took portraits of the two of them and then they had some time with just the two of them before the ceremony.

Winter Wedding Ceremony at the Hive Venue

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. Obi’s reaction to seeing Sophie walk down the aisle was priceless, even having just seen her not long before. They exchanged vows, had their first kiss, and hugged all of their guests after the ceremony.

Group Portraits, Dinner, and Speeches

After the ceremony we went outside for some group and family portraits. We also took a few more of just the bride and groom outside of the venue as well.

Then the guests were served a beautiful and delicious meal of soups, charcuterie cheese boards, and breads. After dinner, family members and friends gave some heartfelt speeches that brought out lots of tears and smiles. Obi and Sophie cut the cake and afterwards let the party begin!

Dances and Partying

So much dancing! Sophie’s family includes many professional dancers and it was so fun to see everyone having a blast on the dance floor. Sophie’s aunt also wrote and performed a song for the couple which was so special. Everyone danced the night away until the bride and groom’s sparkler exit. It was a day to remember and I’m so grateful I got to capture it.
