Winter Wedding at Mount Timpanogos Temple and the State House

Macey and Abe’s wedding day happened to fall on one of the coldest, windiest days of the year, but their winter wedding was incredible despite the freezing weather! I was so happy I got to be their wedding photographer and get to know this fun, happy couple. Nothing could take away their huge smiles during the entire day, and they were such champs braving the cold. They came out of the temple cheering and hugging their friends and family. Then we ran through all of the group pictures as fast as we could to get out of the freezing wind!

Guys, a huge reason to hire a great wedding photographer is that they know how to maximize time on your wedding day and make everything go smoothly, even under pressure! I was prepared with a group shot list and was able to work fast to get all the shots everyone wanted as quickly as possible. I was glad that I already had so much experience working with large groups and getting the shot fast! Group photos don’t have to be long and tedious as long as your photographer knows what they are doing.

Macey and Abe were pros in front of the camera, and we got some beautiful couple’s portraits in a short amount of time as well. Macey’s gorgeous wedding dress had short sleeves, so for some of the shots she braved the cold, and for others she wore a sweater that went beautifully with her dress.

Another smart choice for this winter wedding was to have the groomsmen wear sweaters and the bridesmaids wear floor-length, long-sleeve dresses and matching shawls. They looked great and were prepped for the weather.

I always love shooting at the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork, Utah. I think it’s the temple I’ve shot at most! The arched entryway and pillars look so good in photos. The unique blue windows also make photos extra interesting. The grounds allow for group shots with the entire temple in the background as well, which is another plus to this temple.

The State House was a gorgeous venue for Macey and Abe’s reception. It is conveniently located on State Street in Orem, Utah and features lots of open space and white brick walls. Big windows let in natural light and give a view of the sunset. There is also an upper loft area and a bride’s room! I love this venue!

This reception was FUN. Macey and Abe have such happy personalities and they had a blast at their reception. They had an arch behind their line as they greeted guests, a soup and salad bar and a hot chocolate station, and an open dance floor! After the cake cutting, Macey and her dad had probably the most awesome father-daughter dance I have ever seen! They twirled and laughed and had a great time dancing crazy. Abe and his mom had a beautiful mother-son dance as well. Macey and Abe’s first dance was so sweet, including a deep-dip kiss at the end. Then they danced the night away with their guests and finished off the night with a sparkler exit. It was an amazing wedding day and I’m so glad I got to capture it!
