Whether you are planning a first date or a million-th, here are some of my favorite date ideas in Idaho Falls, Idaho! They are sure to impress whomever you are dating, whether you are just meeting, engaged, married, or anywhere in between.
As a wedding photographer, I hang out with a lot of couples! And having fun with your significant other is such an important (and awesome!) part of any relationship. To all of my engaged friends out there – take time to relax, step away from wedding planning, and do something fun with your fiancé. Here are some ideas sure to help the two of you connect and have a great time!
These are in no particular order and can serve as ideas outside of Idaho Falls as well, just find a similar date in your area!
Idaho Falls Riverwalk
Take a romantic walk along the Snake River and check out the falls that give the city its name! There are multiple look-out points to get a better look at the beautiful views of the falls, the rock formations, the city, and the LDS Temple. Walk along the path or grab some bikes, longboards, or roller skates!

Japanese friendship gardens
The Japanese friendship gardens offer a beautiful and peaceful area to relax and connect with your date. Bring sushi to earn extra points with your partner! You can walk around the gardens and sit on one of the many benches in the area. The gardens are downtown, so you can also explore and do a little window shopping.

Indoor golf
Here is a fun date idea that you can do in summer or winter! Increase your golfing skills on the putting greens or the indoor golf simulator at Bob’s Indoor Golf.
Ice Skating
Ice skating is the perfect romantic winter date. You can hold hands and get to know each other better while you skate round the ice. And I think hot chocolate is a must with this date!

Hot springs
Hot springs are one of the many things that make Idaho unique, so take advantage of this natural phenomenon and relax in the warm mineral water in summer or winter! If you are up for an adventure, there is also zip lining nearby!
Smash in therapy
This is a fun one! You have no idea how therapeutic it is to smash, hit, and destroy things! They have everything from electronics to tables to glassware – all for you to obliterate with a hammer. It’s a great way to blow off some steam and have a great time while doing it!
Big Jud’s
I didn’t want to include too many food-related dates in this list, because that’s an obvious date idea, but I do want to include the iconic Big Jud’s because its different than your typical burger place! Split a Big Jud Special (the famous one-pound cheeseburger) or choose from one of many other burger options. And don’t forget ice cream for dessert!
Mesa Falls
This date idea can also be enjoyed in winter or summer, each a different way! In the summer, you can take a short hike to see the beautiful waterfalls. In the winter, you can snow shoe, cross country skii, or snowmobile!

On-Target Axe Throwing
Axe throwing has become super popular recently, and for good reason! It is so satisfying to land an axe on the target and hone-in your throwing skills!
Reed’s Dairy
Reed’s Dairy is a classic! Trust me when I say they have AMAZING old-fashioned ice cream and the absolute BEST chocolate milk I have ever had. You can also go for the other dairy products, like their cheese curds.
Ice castles
The ice castles are an awesome place to be in the winter! Check out the ice formations during the day or after dark when they are all lit up.
Painting class
Bring out your artistic side with a painting class! Even if you are a terrible artist, you can still have fun creating a masterpiece.
Museum of Idaho
Learn something new with your date at the Museum of Idaho! The exhibits are always changing so you can go back again and again.
Idaho Falls Zoo
The zoo is a great date idea, especially for animal-lovers! Check out the exhibits featuring animals from all over the world.
Escape room
Escape rooms are so much fun! You might even see a totally different side of your date when the clock is ticking and you need to escape! Solving puzzles and following clues is sure to bring you and your date closer together. This is also a great idea for a group date!
Bonus: A Photo Session Date!
You know I have to add this one in! 😉 But in all seriousness, this is actually a really awesome date! You get to go to a pretty location and hang out with your sweetheart while I take beautiful pictures for you to keep forever. You can also make it whatever you want – bring your favorite food or drink as props, make it a picnic, or choose a location special to you. No excuse needed! I promise we will have a great time.
